A Council of Advisers + Sponsors Support Our Leaders

The WS Shuler Whitmore (WSSW) Foundation supports a WSSW Leadership Institute which has operated under the auspices of SAMAAP (La Sociedad de Amigos del Museo Afro-Antillano de Panamá/The Society of Friends of the West Indian Museum) since 2003. SAMAAP WSSW Institute Leaders (18 - 40-years old) are often in the early stages of their careers and as such aspire to increase their knowledge, capabilities, and skills.

Institute members are encouraged to complete an annual membership application documenting dues paid to SAMAAP, hours volunteered, gifts of services in-kind, or donations made to community non-profits. Moreover, Leaders may serve in Council-arranged Internships to gain experience and training.

Advisers and Sponsors (41+), because of their expertise as entrepreneurs or professionals, are invited or contact us to join a Council which supports or sponsors our Institute Leaders. Sponsors may serve as mentors and/or are instrumental in guiding leaders in         Council-Arranged Internships to gain experience and training.

Adviser C. Gaines, Esq., supported by the American Society of Panama, selected WSSW Leader S. Freeman to fill an Internship in 2008. Freeman provided bilingual support for the Rule of Law/ Social Contracts Program which was presented to kindergarten classes at the Torrijos-Carter School in San Miguelito,  Republic of Panama.
